Lynn McGown

Lynn McGown is a singer an innovative vocal coach, NLP Practitioner, and dynamic workshop leader. She is also co-owner of the Open Door Music School.

She has been singing all her life, and professionally for 45 years. She has sung and given vocal  and singing workshops at International Festivals, as well as the Vancouver Folk Festival four times, concerts, social and environmental benefits, for schools and recently gave a 4 day residential workshop at Hollyhock education retreat centre on Cortes Island.

Lynn’s love and passion for supporting people in singing and finding their voice is contagious. She believes voice work is a portal to self-empowerment, healing, and balance in body, mind and spirit.  Her approach to voice is one of giving the classical nuts and bolts of vocal techniques and body voice exercises always with the knowledge that discovery of your voice is a coming home to the deepest part of yourself.

She has worked with thousands of men and women in individual sessions and workshops helping them to find and express the most profound level of their being through voice and the joy of singing.

Catherine Dynes

Catherine Dynes is a Vancouver local who grew up with a passion for musical theatre as well as performance. A people person with a love of singing, she enjoys exploring creative ways of self-expression. Catherine has worked with children and youth for a number of years a camp counsellor, residence advisor and teaching assistant among other community-oriented roles.

Catherine graduated UVIC with a degree in Anthropology with experience participating in acting workshops. After graduating, Catherine lived in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher where she was able to judge speech contests, record her voice for the prefectural wide English exams and run weekly English conversation clubs helping all ages as well as abilities find confidence in speaking and singing in English.

Catherine took the past year to explore her own singing with Open Door Music School and has loved every minute of her journey. She welcomes anyone who wants to learn more about themselves by sharing their voice with others.
